Adelaide forward Josh Rachele says he hopes to be a one club player, after recommitting to the Crows for a further four years.

The long-term extension, which is set to keep him at West Lakes until at least the end of 2029, follows Rachele’s strong form this season - he has averaged 16.7 disposals and 1.2 goals across 13 games.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the 20-year-old said returning to his hometown of Victoria was never on his radar and he was excited to join the slew of young guns who had re-signed in the past week.

“I want to be a one club player, I always have ever since I was a junior down at the Shepparton Swans, I’ve wanted to stay loyal to my club," Rachele said.

“I had no intention of going home whatsoever, it was a no brainer, I wanted to get it done as soon as possible.

“It made it pretty easy with one of my good mates Jake (Soligo) and the younger boys signing on at the moment.

“Looking at Tex and Rory and these guys who are playing 250 games, that's definitely something I want to do.”

“I had no intention of going home whatsoever, it was a no brainer.

The livewire forward, who Adelaide selected with Pick No.6 at the 2021 AFL National Draft, has become a fan favourite amongst the Crows faithful and Rachele said he was looking forward to more memorable goal celebrations in front of the home crowd in the years to come.

“It’s just pure excitement when we are kicking goals, we love to bring smiles to the fan’s faces,” said Rachele.

“I like to leave the big celebrations for the home crowd when everyone is up and about.

“That excitement helps the team as well if we are down a couple of goals or if the other team has momentum.

“It's something that we really do love doing at the moment and I think some of the older guys like Tex will jump on board as well."

Turning to Adelaide’s clash with ladder-leaders Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday, Rachele said he was eager for the opportunity to play on a big stage against such tough competition.

“Playing (at the MCG) against one of the best teams in the competition right now and to show the AFL world what we can do as a team, I’m quite excited,” said Rachele.

“It will be a great test for our group to see how we can go against the best of the best.

“At the moment, we are on the board but we still know there is a long way to go, so to win this weekend would be a big confidence booster.”
