Adelaide has made one change ahead of its match against West Coast at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

Defender Josh Worrell will come into the side, replacing fellow backman Tom Doedee.

Doedee will miss the remainder of the 2023 season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during last weekend’s loss to Gold Coast.

Worrell will play his second game for this season after earning selection in Round 11, in which he helped the Crows beat Brisbane and finished the game with 19 disposals.

Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly said losing Doedee was tough but it now gave Worrell an opportunity to step up.

“The unfortunate season ending injury to Tom Doedee has necessitated a change to the line-up and we have called upon Josh Worrell, who performed well against Brisbane in Round 11,” Kelly said.

“In many respects, Josh was unlucky to miss last week, and he put forward another strong SANFL performance last weekend.

“The silver lining in Tom’s absence is the opportunity that it provides for another to step up and Josh gets that chance this week.”

Midfielder Ned McHenry, who was used as the substitute in last week’s game, has been named as an emergency, alongside Lachlan Gollant, Harry Schoenberg and Brayden Cook.

Kelly said McHenry would likely be this week’s substitute again, “barring any late changes”.

The match against the Eagles will also mark veteran forward Taylor Walker’s 250th game, a milestone Kelly said deserved to be celebrated

“Whilst we were really disappointed in the result of last week's game, there were periods in the game where we performed well, and our previous week's performance versus Brisbane was strong,” Kelly said.

“That has resulted in only the forced change this week.

“We are focused on bouncing back and celebrating one of the greats of our footy Club, Taylor Walker.”

Adelaide will also honour and celebrate the work of Emergency Services personnel at the game, giving up to 3000 workers a complimentary ticket, as well as putting on various other activations at the oval.

The Crows play West Coast at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 4.05pm.
