Adelaide List Manager Justin Reid says the Clubs is assessing its options ahead of the mid-season draft later this month.
The AFL’s mid-season draft will be hosted on Wednesday, May 31, giving clubs a chance to replace a player or players who either have long-term injuries or have retired halfway through the season.
Speaking on this week’s episode of The Crows Show, Reid said Adelaide could look to use the mid-season draft to replace second-year midfielder Zac Taylor.
Taylor was expected to miss about three months following foot surgery on a Lisfranc injury he suffered in the Crows’ SANFL win against South Adelaide last month.
“We’ve certainly got one eye on the mid-season draft,” Reid said.
“We’ve still got a few weeks until May 31.
“We’ve got a fit list at the moment but there’s (things) we need to cover off, with regards to Zac Taylor, we’ve got to figure out where (he) sits with injuries.”
Reid said recruiting boss Hamish Ogilvie, former Richmond recruiter Richard Taylor and himself would watch up to six local games of football each across every weekend, scouting for new talent.
“Hamish, Richard and the team, we would cover anywhere from four to six live games on a weekend,” Reid said.
“We’ve also got a data analyst, so we can bring a lot of that data and how players perform back to our meeting on a Monday.
“Collectively through WA, the northern states, South Australia and Victoria, there would be 20, 30, 40 games covered live.”
Also on The Crows Show this week, an injury-free defender Wayne Milera discusses his form and the importance of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, while midfielder Sam Berry joins teammate Ben Keays to chat about his ‘Whopper Moment’, thanks to Hungry Jack’s.
The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 this Saturday from 1pm.
