Adelaide forward Taylor Walker says this weekend’s clash against St Kilda is one the Crows “need to win” as they gear up for a big month of fixtures.

After falling narrowly short against Geelong and Collingwood over the past fortnight, Adelaide returns to its home deck a team determined to turn the tide.

With the third-placed Saints on the agenda this Sunday, Walker told Roo, Ditts & Loz on Triple M Breakfast that he was confident the squad could get back to winning ways.

“I think we are a very good chance (to beat the Saints) on our home deck, and we need to win,” Walker said.

“It’s a big month for us, so it’s going to be a good challenge for us against a team that is in good form.”

St Kilda comes into this clash as the AFL’s top defensive team, allowing a competition low 474 points against over the first eight games of the season.

Walker said finding a way to stifle the Saints’ in-form back six would go a long way to winning the game.

“It is going to be a very defensive game on the weekend, so the challenge for us is to slow their backline right down,” Walker said.

“They are number one in the competition for scores against at the moment, and it is going to be very hard to get through their zone.

“But with tough defensive games against Geelong and Collingwood over the past fortnight, we have had great preparation against teams that are going to try and stop us from scoring.”

Adelaide faces St Kilda at Adelaide Oval this Sunday afternoon, with the first bounce at 12.40pm (ACST).
