Adelaide utility Chayce Jones says becoming more versatile is the key to unlocking his strong form across the past fortnight.
Jones was named as the substitute in the Round Three win over Port Adelaide and, since then, has impressed on the wing.
The 23-year-old enjoyed arguably one of his best games during the Gather Round triumph over Carlton, collecting a career-high 28 disposals.
Speaking on this week’s episode of The Crows Show, Jones said his game was the most settled it had been since he arrived at the Club prior to the 2019 season.
“It was definitely one of my better games last week (against Carlton) and it was nice to have that type of output for the team,” Jones said.
“(I’ve) mainly been on the wing this pre-season which has been good, it’s been nice to settle into a spot this year and play some good footy.
“It just takes a little bit of time for your footy attributes to come out to their full potential in game, there are some that can do it in their very first game and others that take a bit more time.”
Adelaide selected Jones with Pick No.9 at the 2018 AFL National Draft and he said surrounding himself with the right people had been crucial to managing expectations.
“Since my first year I’ve felt a little bit of expectation and sometimes it is hard,” Jones said.
“But the best thing is just to stick with the people at the footy club and my family back at home because they are the people that really matter.
“I just try and do what’s best for me and what’s best for the team.”
Also on The Crows Show this week, fans have their say on what time slot they would prefer to watch Adelaide play, while Jordon Butts sits down with Ben Keays to talk through his Whopper Moment, thanks to Hungry Jacks.
The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 on Sunday at 12pm.
