Adelaide recruit Izak Rankine says there’s nothing quite like being back in his home state, surrounded by family and friends.

And, when it comes to the goal sneak's footy career, he reckons having the potential to form one of the most dangerous forward line combinations with Josh Rachele is an exciting prospect.

Speaking on this week’s episode of The Crows Show, Rankine said he had been working closely with Rachele during pre-season and loved playing alongside the youngster in the opening round.

“Coming back to Adelaide has been pretty cool and relaxing at the same time,” Rankine said.

“Until the weekend just gone by, my first game, that was when it all really sunk in and it was a good feeling being able to pull that jumper on for the first time.

“Josh (Rachele) is a pretty outgoing person, loves to celebrate and loves to get on the end of a goal (and) to be able to play alongside him on the weekend (was great), we linked up and he kicked a goal.

“It’s exciting to have a player like that alongside you like him and we share a lot of similarities.”

Rankine, who joined the Crows during the off-season after spending four years with Gold Coast, will notch his 50th AFL game this weekend when Adelaide plays Richmond in the first home game of the 2023 campaign.

The 22-year-old said he was looking forward to donning the Crows guernsey and playing in front of a packed Adelaide Oval.

“Having these colours on is a dream come true,” Rankine said.

“Straight after the GWS game, I was thinking about the next week coming with the next home game.

“I’m really excited, we are going to have a lot of fans there and I’m going to have a lot of friends there to watch me play.

“It’s going to be a dream come true to run out there and hear the crowd roar.”

Also on The Crows Show this week, Shane Edwards talks about his move from the Tigers into the Crows’ football department and CEO Tim Silvers also speaks about the Club’s five-year strategy.

The Crows Show airs on Channel 7 this Saturday at 12.30pm.
