Adelaide AFLW midfielder Teah Charlton says the Crows must get better at absorbing the opposition’s pressure, following the Round Eight loss to Brisbane on Friday night.
The Crows went down to the ladder-leading Lions 8.5 (53) to 4.7 (31) at Metricon Stadium and speaking to the media on Monday, Charlton said it was a scoreless second quarter that cost them.
“Obviously it’s (the loss) a bit disappointing,” Charlton said.
“We just need to bring the pressure for the entire four quarters.
“I think where we lost it would probably be the second quarter where we dropped off a little bit.
“From then on, we tried to fight back but it just wasn’t enough in the end.
“I think that’s where we lost it, we weren’t able to absorb their pressure as much as they were able to absorb ours.”
Adelaide dropped to fourth on the ladder after the loss with two games remaining in the minor round.
Charlton, who finished the match with 17 disposals, six tackles and a goal, said players were looking to move on quickly ahead of the clash with Geelong on Friday night.
The 20-year-old Premiership player was confident Adelaide would bounce back.
“I think we just take that loss and move onto the next week and keep preparing for finals,” Charlton said.
“Leading into the back end of the season you definitely start thinking a bit more far ahead but you’ve got to stay in the present moment.
“We had a quick meeting afterwards and just went through a few of the key points that we need to improve on.
“We’ve had just as hard of a pre-season as any other and we’ll back our girls.”
Adelaide plays Geelong at Unley Oval on Friday at 5.10pm
