A new Crow is set to make her AFLW debut in Round One as Adelaide lines up for its first hitout of 2022.
Broken Hill product Jasmine Simmons was signed to Adelaide’s AFLW rookie list last year, after returning from a stint playing basketball in the United States.
Simmons has been named in the Crows’ side for Sunday's clash against reigning premiers Brisbane.
Senior Coach Matthew Clarke said Simmons’ debut was one of the “more amazing transitions” in recent AFLW memory.
“(She’s had) seven years out of footy away playing basketball in the states, but she’s adapted really quickly,” Clarke said.
“She can take a catch as well so she’s a chance to play forward, back or potentially through the wings (as the season progresses).”
Skipper Chelsea Randall will also make her return after missing last year’s grand final due to concussion.
The Crows take on Brisbane on Sunday, January 9, at Flinders University Stadium at 1.40pm.
