Entry-level tickets for the first two weeks of finals will be the cheapest they've been since 2001.
For the opening two weeks of the Toyota AFL Finals Series, all entry-level seating will cost $35 for adults, regardless of the venue – a reduction of up to $13 on 2015 prices.
Entry-level reserved seating for the preliminary finals has also been reduced to $65 at all venues.
However, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the price of several finals ticket categories – including some at the AFL Grand Final – has been increased to cope with rising costs.
"For the past two seasons we have elected to keep all prices on hold at 2013 levels, and our commitment to affordability continues with the introduction of a reduced entry-level ticket in weeks 1-3," McLachlan said.
"It is reality that the costs of holding matches continue to rise and we hope the impact of increasing the price of some ticketing categories is minimised with a significantly lower national entry level price.
"We believe the price of all seating categories represents excellent value and we expect fans to vote with their feet."
The cheapest finals seats at the MCG and Adelaide Oval cost $40 last season, while they were $45 at ANZ Stadium and $48 at Domain Stadium.
Entry-level and top-category Grand Final tickets will remain at 2015 prices but all other adult tickets will increase by $5-$25.
"After freezing prices for the past two years, we have tried to minimise the impact of any increase by keeping the price of entry level seats and premium category seats on hold," McLachlan said.
Tickets for week one of the 2016 Toyota AFL Final Series go on sale to competing club members on Tuesday, August 30, at 10am; to the general public from noon Wednesday, August 31; and AFL members (MCG only) from 9.00am Wednesday, August 31.
