Adelaide defender Brodie Smith said fans played a pivotal role in the Crows’ clutch win against Melbourne

The Crows’ defence held off the Demons after Taylor Walker booted the match-winning goal with just 42 seconds on the clock.

Smith said the roar of supporters at Adelaide Oval helped Adelaide hold on against the undefeated side.

“To not to give anything away with a couple of repeat forward 50 stoppages, I was definitely feeling the pressure down there,” Smith said.

“The crowd really got behind us to be able to fight that out and get the win, especially in that last minute.”

A member of the leadership group, Smith said the game would be one to remember for the Crows’ young side.

“We’re looking forward to the future years where, hopefully, this group’s gonna go a long way and have a lot of success,” he said.

“(We) could potentially look back and go, ‘Remember the time we knocked off the undefeated Demons at home in that one-point game?’.

“It’s gonna give the group a lot of confidence going forward that we can win these games.”

After a string of disappointing losses, Smith thanked Adelaide’s fans for their support on Saturday - and beyond.

“We’d been playing two or three good quarters of footy, so to put four quarters together and not have any lapses against a really good side is massive for the group,” he said.

“It’s been a bit of a roller coaster for our fans.

“But we’re going out to hunt the contest and give 100 per cent each week. They can expect that from us.”
