Adelaide midfielder Ebony Marinoff has been crowned the Crows’ 2021 AFLW Club Champion.
Marinoff’s stellar season notched a tally-topping 265 votes, finishing ahead of Anne Hatchard with 251.
Under this year’s system, Adelaide’s senior coach and three line coaches graded each player’s performance on a 0-8 scale following each round for a maximum collective vote of 32.
Hatchard and Marinoff fought neck-and-neck through the count, with fewer than 15 votes separating the pair throughout the minor round.
But consistency was key for the 2021 Club Champion, who didn’t fall below top three across the season.
She was named Best on Ground in six out of the Crows’ 11 rounds.
Marinoff was the only player to receive the highest possible vote, taking home 32 votes in the Crows’ Preliminary Final win over Melbourne.
In an outstanding season, the 23-year-old finished second in the AFLW for average disposals (23.5) and metres gained (387.6).
She also ranked first at the Club for contested possessions and clearances.
It was another accolade for Marinoff, who was named in the 21-player All Australian AFLW side for the third time.
Among other honourees was Sarah Allan, named Best Defender for 2021.
Powerhouse forward Erin Phillips took home leading goalkicker with 14 majors, ahead of Crows new recruit Ashleigh Woodland (9) and AFLW Mark of the Year winner Danielle Ponter (9).
Best and Fairest runner-up Hatchard took home the Players’ Player award, as voted by her teammates.
It’s welcome recognition for last year’s Club Champion, who finished sixth in the recent league-wide Best and Fairest count.
The women’s awards will be formally recognised alongside the AFL team at the Adelaide Football Club’s official Club Champion event later this year.
