Mackay set to stay
Adelaide signs young midfielder Brodie Martin for a further two years while David Mackay is about to agree to a long-term deal
ADELAIDE has reached agreement with two key midfielders with Brodie Martin penning a new deal and David Mackay on the verge of signing a long-term deal.
Mackay said he was hopeful of signing "within the next week".
"It's just a matter of tying up a few minor details," said Mackay, who joined the Crows via the 2006 NAB AFL Draft, told FIVEaa.
"But the deal's pretty much wrapped up."
The Crows have also locked down one of its young midfielders on the eve of its finals campaign, with Brodie Martin signing a two-year deal.
Martin is the latest of a large group of Crows to have penned deals in 2012, including stars Rory Sloane, Patrick Dangerfield, Taylor Walker and Jared Petrenko.
Taken by Adelaide with pick No.52 at the 2008 AFL Rookie Draft, Martin was upgraded onto the senior list in 2009.
A torn ACL sustained in his second AFL game ruined Martin's 2010 season and, having managed just 12 games through 2011 and 2012, he tore a hamstring in round 16 against GWS.
Despite having struggled to spend consistent time on the field, Crows football manager Phil Harper said Martin was another valuable re-signing for the club.
“Brodie has played some outstanding football in the SANFL and also shown some good signs at AFL level," Harper said.
“We think he can develop into an excellent player for us and we are pleased he wants to be part of our playing group for at least the next couple of years.”
Martin made his return from his hamstring jury through the SANFL at the weekend where he collected 21 disposals and booted two goals for Sturt.
