Ben Hart believes playing Collingwood at a packed AAMI Stadium on Saturday night is a timely challenge for Adelaide as it strives to rebound from last week's heavy loss to West Coast.

"Yeah, definitely," the 32-year-old, 308-game defender said before the Crows trained at a closed AAMI Stadium on Wednesday. "They're in some good form and they've got some really good players. It's going to be a tough go for us. They knocked off West Coast the week before.

"But we're looking forward to it. There's probably no better game to come into than against Collingwood, who are playing some good footy."

Hart described last Sunday's 82-point failure at Subiaco Oval, after eight successive wins, as 'a stinging loss', but he said the Crows had assessed it thoroughly and were 'on the front foot'.

"More than anything, the weekend showed if we waver from the way we want to play footy and what's worked for us, then you can have results like that," he said. "So it probably confirmed in our minds that the way we were going about it is the right way, but it has to be a consistent level.

"One thing we were very down on was our contested ball. I'm not sure of the exact stats but I think we got smashed there, so that's one area and that's the key, otherwise you're not going to get the footy.

"They beat us in that area and we couldn't get the ball back off them. They were very good but there were some poor attacks on the ball and attempts to get it on our behalf.

"If you don't learn from things like that, you won't improve so we're pretty keen to improve on what we did wrong. It knocks the self-esteem around for a day or two but once you look at it clinically and realise you basically wavered from what we knew would work, then you're still pretty upbeat about it because you know if you fix those up, then you'll be on the right track.

"It's more about our competitive mindset. If you go in with the right mindset, you generally do the right thing. If you overload it with the competitive work, it could have a counter effect so hopefully it'll be just a mindset at training and (being) aggressive in everything we do.

"It's as much about mental resilience as it is being physically up and able. You can tell by the weekend that West Coast were there to certainly play a bit more than we were."
