Adelaide forward Taylor Walker has opened up about welcoming his second son into the world and taking the Club’s newest recruits under his wing.
Tex and Ellie’s second child - Louis Jack Walker - was born on Thursday, just hours apart from skipper Rory Sloane’s son Bodhi Leo.
The couples popped a bottle in the hospital to celebrate.
“I walked out the door and the bottle just happened to fall into the bag,” Walker told Triple M’s Roo and Ditts.
“[Ellie’s] a little trooper, she’s doing a great job.”
While Walker’s looking after his family off the field, his role on the field has also included a number of new additions.
The key forward said he was excited to see what the likes of Riley Thilthorpe, Luke Pedlar and James Rowe had to offer in 2021.
“[Thilthorpe] is one of the best kids I’ve seen come through… just a first for work ethic,” he said.
“Rowe has a big chance to play Round One, he’s been super impressive.
“Probably disappointing for him he wasn’t picked up earlier but that’s probably put him in a great position to walk into the AFL.”
Walker also revealed he had some competition for size in youngster James Borlase.
“I said to him yesterday, ‘How much do you weigh?’,” he said.
“He’s only an 18-year-old kid and he weighs 97kg.
“He’s exactly the same as his dad [SANFL legend Darryl Borlase], his shoulders are massive.”
While a mentor for young players, a tongue-in-cheek Walker said he had still been going hard in match practice.
“You just gotta be smart about it… you don't want to make them too good,” he said.
