AFLW midfielder star Ebony Marinoff is set to face West Coast on Saturday after a week-long AFL Tribunal delay.
The 23-year-old was handed a three-match suspension by the Tribunal following a clash with Greater Western Sydney defender Brid Stack in a pre-season match against the Giants.
On Thursday night, Adelaide was successful in appealing the decision, much to the relief of Marinoff.
“It was crazy how it panned out,” Marinoff told Triple M’s The Rush Hour.
“It was Sunday night (after the game) that I found out that it potentially was worse (than what everyone thought).
“It got adjourned for a week due to the public holiday and people taking four-day weekends… I was just distraught the whole week.”
Marinoff praised the support of her teammates and the Club during a tenuous period, with special mention for Club lawyer Sam Abbott for his efforts throughout the appeal.
“The support has truly been incredible, I didn’t expect to receive so much,” she said.
“My phone hasn’t stopped ringing for a week.”
Adelaide’s Round One team to face West Coast in Perth will be announced on Friday at 5pm ACDT, enough time for Marinoff to still be included.
“It’s not too late (to be named),” she said.
“I got the news on Thursday night at around quarter past eight… I’m flying off to Perth to play Round One on Saturday.”
Marinoff extended her well wishes to Stack, who, thankfully, will not require surgery.
“I wish Brid all the best and I really hope I can see her again this season,” Marinoff said.
Adelaide’s match against West Coast at Mineral Resources Park will get underway at 4:40pm ACDT.
It will be broadcast live and free on 7Mate in Adelaide from 4.30pm ACDT and nationally on Fox Footy.
