After securing Eddie Betts and James Podsiadly in a fast start to the Free Agency/Trade Period, action slowed for the Crows.

Adelaide lodged one piece of paperwork on the final day of the Trade Period, sending a fourth-round draft selection (No.64 overall) to Geelong in exchange for Podsiadly. The Crows didn’t plan to use this selection as a ‘live’ pick in next month’s AFL National Draft.

In other moves, Adelaide secured an early-second round pick after midfielder Bernie Vince accepted a three-year deal from Melbourne. The Demons handed over pick No.23 for the skilful 28-year-old. View the updated AFL National Draft order.

Betts joined Adelaide on the first day of the Free Agency period. Betts, 26, played 184 games for the Blues, establishing himself as one of the premier small forwards in the AFL. The elusive goalkicker ranks No.1 in the League for score assists (195) and forward 50m tackles (168) in the last five years.

Ruckmen Billy Longer and Trent West and Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton were among the players to find new clubs before the 1:30pm (SA time) trade deadline on Friday.
