Adelaide defender Andrew McPherson has praised the arrival of defensive coach and senior assistant Scott Burns.
The former Hawthorn assistant joined Adelaide at the end of 2020 and has already had an impact on the Crows’ defenders.
“Scotty Burns is great, he sees the game so well,” McPherson said.
“All coaches are different, he’s very straight down the line.
“He certainly says things how they are.”
McPherson enjoyed a stellar 2020 season, despite injury troubles early, and claimed both the Brian Sando OAM trophy and Mark Bickley Emerging Talent award.
Looking ahead to season 2021, McPherson has a simple goal: play as many games as possible.
“My body is feeling really good,” he said.
“We’re managing my loads a little bit, just in terms of maintenance, but everything is feeling great.
“As a team we’ll be looking to improve on a tough year… we want to play an exciting brand of footy for our fans and for ourselves.”
With Wayne Milera touted for a role in the midfield, McPherson will be looking to cement his position in Adelaide’s back six.
“I feel pretty comfortable on the half-back line,” McPherson said.
“Playing somewhere else hasn’t really crossed my mind too much, but I’d be happy with whatever opportunity presents itself.
“The more versatile I can be, the more value I bring to the team.”
