Adelaide will be without Robert Shirley and Matthew Bode for another week.

And Ben Rutten (corked calf), Jason Porplyzia (corked thigh) and Nathan van Berlo (hamstring tightness) all were kept out of Wednesday evening’s main training session but are hopeful of playing against Sydney at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night.

Shirley, who has a broken hand, is still restricted by his injury and therefore will not be risked in full training. And Bode, a late withdrawal from Saturday’s Showdown because of a sore hip and glute, is also not ready to return to competitive training.

Physical performance manager Stephen Schwerdt said Rutten, Porplyzia and van Berlo should be ready to train on Friday morning.

“We will give them as much time as possible to get themselves right,” he said. “But ideally they will train on Friday and then we can see how they are going after that.”
