The Adelaide Crows Foundation congratulates the 2019 Scholarship holder Tariek Newchurch for his recent selection in the 2020 NAB AFL draft.
Newchurch joined the Adelaide Football Club as a Category B rookie for the 2021 season.
The Adelaide Crows Foundation Scholarship aims to remove barriers for a member of the Crows Academies program who is navigating their way through the talent pathways on pursuit of reaching the highest level.
Newchurch made his senior football debut for West Augusta as a 15-year-old and was a member of the Crows Next Generation Academy from 2017 to 2020.
The exciting small forward had a strong 2019 season for North Adelaide, finishing equal third in the SANFL’s under 18 goalkicking in the 2019 home and away season.
In 2019, he moved to Adelaide with his family to pursue his football dream and recently completed year 12 at Henley Beach High School.
Newchurch used the Scholarship funds to purchase a laptop, glasses, and other school supplies to support his studies, as well as book driving lessons and get his driver’s licence.
Adelaide Crows Foundation manager Louise McDonald is excited to see Newchurch take the first step in his professional football career.
“It’s exciting to see a determined young footballer chasing his dreams and we are proud to have played a part in Tariek’s journey,” McDonald said.
“There is a lot of hard work ahead, but Tariek is an outstanding young man and we can’t wait to see what he can achieve with the Club.”
