Midfielder Jackson Hately will be a Crow in Season 2021 after Adelaide secured the South Australian with pick No.1 in the pre-season draft on Thursday.

The Central District junior has spent two seasons with Greater Western Sydney after being recruited with a first-round selection, pick No.14, in the 2018 AFL Draft.

Crows General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said the 190cm strong-bodied midfielder would become a key cog in Adelaide’s developing engine room.

“We’re delighted to bring Jackson in, and we see him becoming a really important part of our midfield mix,” Reid said.

“Jackson is a former first round draft selection with great footy IQ and has shown he’s a prolific ball winner and a ferocious tackler.

“Not only do we see him as a quality player, but a quality person from a great family. Jackson served as school captain at Trinity College in Adelaide and will bring off-field leadership qualities as well as his key strengths on the field.”

Hately played 12 games for the Giants and will reunite with Crows senior coach Matthew Nicks, who served as a senior assistant for Greater Western Sydney in 2019.
