Adelaide’s recruiting team has welcomed feedback and input from the playing list ahead of the 2020 National Draft.

Crows national recruiting manager Hamish Ogilvie said players “make the best recruiters” and the likes of Rory Sloane and Tom Lynch often played an active role in the draft process.

“Sloaney certainly welcomes the boys well when they get her, but he takes an interest (in the draft selections) as do a lot of our players,” Ogilvie said.

“Tommy Lynch rings about every two or three days to offer advice on who to pick, what he’s seen… the players are really involved.

“Because of the amount of video and information out there, they really love it, they thrive on the draft.

“They want to know who their new teammates will be, how they can help.”

Even former players such as Sam Jacobs, who recently joined the Club in an administration role, are free to provide their input.

“Sam Jacobs has always been involved in the draft, offering advice if there’s a ruckman he’s watched,” Ogilvie said.

“Then you find the one, two, three year players who actually know these boys and you can seek out some information from them as well.

Adelaide holds picks one, nine, 22, 23, 40 and 80, marking the first time the Club has received the top selection.

Ogilvie reiterated the Club would focus first and foremost on “taking the best player”.

“There is a lot of data to put guys in our talent order,” he said.

“Yes we consider South Australia, but other boys may have family here, mates here…

“And some guys are ready for the adventure, maybe they want a change?

“We always consider local, but we can't just be pinned down to that.”

The 2020 National Draft will take place on Wednesday, December 9.
