Don Pyke, an assistant coach for the past two seasons, has decided not to extend his contract with the Adelaide Football Club.He will return to Perth later this year to pursue business and other interests.Pyke, a dual premiership player at West Coast in 1992 and 1994, joined the Adelaide coaching panel at the end of 2004.“It is a tough decision to leave the football club because I have loved my time here and have really enjoyed working with Neil, the other coaches and the playing group,” Pyke said.“The club has re-established itself as one of the leaders in the AFL and I’m sure will continue this progress in years to come.“I have a great passion and love for the game and would like to maintain some involvement into the future, though at this stage not on a full-time basis.”Adelaide chief executive officer Steven Trigg said Pyke would be missed at West Lakes.“It is disappointing to lose Don, he has made a great contribution over the past two years,” Trigg said. “Importantly with the start-up coaching group, he has fitted in exceptionally well and he will leave some big shoes to fill.”Coach Neil Craig said: "Don's been a great contributor to our club in two years. He's a quality person with great footy knowledge. He's been an important part of the coaching team and has done some really outstanding things with the midfield group as well, and has contributed to a lot of debate and discussion in our match committee."We thank Don and we certainly wish him well for whatever else he decides to pursue."Craig said the club was already searching for a replacement."Quality people are difficult to find," he said. "We're obviously in the market for the right person. We'll go through our normal processes and the network we have, and I'm sure we will find the appropriate person … as soon as possible."The two other assistant coaches, Paul Hamilton and David Noble, have committed to the club for 2007.
