Adelaide’s Tom Lynch could finish the season as one of the biggest improvers in the AFL’s Official Player Ratings.

Lynch, 25, was ranked No.176 in the AFL at the end of last season according to the ratings system, which uses a statistical algorithm to measure a player’s impact across his last 40 games.

The hard-working forward has since vaulted more than 100 places up the rankings to No.68 with 429 rating points and is now among the top ten highest-rated small/medium forwards in the competition. Lynch is averaging a career-best 21 possessions per game, ranks third at the Club for marks (76) and has kicked 22 goals this season.

Gun midfielder Rory Sloane remains Adelaide’s highest ranked player overall at No.8.

Sloane has slipped from sixth spot at the start of the year despite a stellar season so far, but has shown remarkable consistency since the Player Ratings system was introduced in 2012. The tough onballer has never been outside the top 50 players and has maintained a top 10 spot since Round 19, 2014.

The potential Brownlow Medal contender, who skyrocketed as high as fourth in the Player Ratings hierarchy early last season, is within an arm’s reach of regaining a top-five standing on 592 points close behind ruck duo Todd Goldstein and Nic Naitanui.

Who is our most improved Crow?

Livewire forward Eddie Betts boasts 475.8 rating points to be the next best Crow at No.31 overall.

The former Blue has been among the top 50 players in the Player Ratings rankings for more than a year and is currently rated the fifth-best small/medium forward in the AFL. Betts is averaging a career-best 14 possessions and four tackles per game and has booted 35 goals this season to sit fifth in the Coleman Medal race.

Durable ruckman Sam Jacobs is 10 places behind Betts at No.41 overall. The 202cm Crow peaked as high as No.10 in the Player Ratings ladder late last year. Naitanui, Goldstein and injured Docker Aaron Sandilands are the only other ruckmen ahead of him.

Richard Douglas (77), Brodie Smith (90) and captain Taylor Walker (100) are the only other Crows rated inside the top 100.

Former Crow Patrick Dangerfield assumed the mantle as the No.1 ranked player in the AFL's Player Ratings from Fremantle's Nat Fyfe earlier in the season. Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray, Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury and Western Bulldogs midfielder Marcus Bontempelli round out the top five.
