Tough selection for opener
Adelaide’s first selection meeting of 2010 will not be easy as the match committee sort through options for Saturday's NAB Cup opener.
Although the Crows can play 26 against Port Adelaide, there is intense competition for spots in the first team among more than 35 listed players who are expected to be available.
Club policy is not to take any risk with niggling injuries in the NAB Cup but at this stage the primary list players who will miss out are Nathan van Berlo (back), Brad Symes (illness/knee), Jason Porplyzia (back), Brad Moran (knee) and long-term injured duo Brodie Martin and Andy Otten.
Defender Nathan Bock, who copped a knock to a calf early last week, may be ready to train at Wednesday’s main closed session.
Phil Davis and Will Young and are among a group of younger players hoping to get their first opportunity to wear the Crows outfit in an official match.
If Adelaide wins it progresses to a second round game against the winner of the Essendon/West Coast clash.
