Adelaide has claimed former SA under 18 star Chris Schmidt and Ballarat basketballer Ricky Henderson in today’s NAB AFL rookie draft.

The Crows passed with their third selection.

Adelaide used its first pick (No 10) on 190cm Henderson, who trained with the Crows briefly a fortnight ago.

Schmidt, 19, was drafted from SANFL club West Adelaide by Brisbane two years ago. The 189cm defender played two AFL games in his first year with the Lions but did not add to his tally this year and was delisted at the end of the season.

Irishman Brian Donnelly and 2008 rookies James Moss and Brodie Martin are the other rookie-listed Crows for 2009.
