GUN CROW Taylor Walker could find himself in hot water after sliding into a contest and making contact with the Power's Jacob Surjan with his knees.

Surjan dove towards a loose ball early in the third quarter of Sunday's Showdown, before Walker slid in on his knees, hitting Surjan on the head.

While not reported, Walker, who booted six goals, gave away a free kick and is likely to come under the scrutiny of the Match Review Panel.

The incident is the latest in a string of slides that have caused controversy, including the suspension of Swan Adam Goodes (who also slid into Surjan) and North Melbourne's Lindsay Thomas, who had his suspension overruled for sliding into and breaking the leg of Swan Gary Rohan.

Adelaide's Patrick Dangerfield said players didn't think about the potential ramifications for sliding into a contest.

"In replay, you can look at everything in slow motion and make judgments, but as players we don't really focus on it," Dangerfield said.

"We're focusing on the ball and trying to win that ball whatever it takes.

"I don't think players think about it too much."

Coach Brenton Sanderson said the AFL had to be careful not to change the rules whenever someone gets hurt.

"The AFL are doing a good job in ensuring the play is still a hard, contested game that's still safe," Sanderson said.

"Sometimes there's just those freak accidents and we shouldn't look to change a rule every time a player gets injured.

"But at the same time we have to make the game safer."
