ADELAIDE'S poor skills will be the squad's main focus for the second half of the season, according to captain Mark Ricciuto.

Ricciuto echoed coach Neil Craig, who blamed bad execution and decision making for the Crows' 21-point loss to West Coast.

"It is certainly down and it is not at the level we need it at if we are going to be a top level team in the AFL," Ricciuto said.

"It is something that we have been working on over the past couple of weeks but it probably needs a lot more attention and we will need to get it pretty soon."

Ricciuto rejected a suggestion that the Crows were suffering from a lack of intensity at training or had reacted poorly to West Coast's pressure on Sunday.

"Our skills have been down for a little while so while it might have been exaggerated a bit more by their pressure, it is still a problem in general," he said.

"We will be doing extra skills [sessions] and putting more pressure on guys to make sure they get their skills right."

He said the Crows upfield structure was not as good as it needed to be while at the same time forwards were becoming frustrated by the way the ball was coming out of defence.

"It is probably a combination of the forward structure and delivery that is not making it very easy to play in the forward lines at the moment," he said.

"Having said that, the defensive pressure has been pretty good and I think we are handling the frustration of it all pretty well."

Ricciuto said his ongoing back soreness was feeling better but he was frustrated that he had been restricted by the injury and was not playing as well as he wanted to.

"I've been back a few weeks and I'm certainly doing extra training and everything I can off the field so hopefully that will start translating into better performances," he said.
