Knights, who amassed 33 possessions and three goals in the SANFL last weekend, returns for his fifth match of the season. Brown will play his first game since making his debut against Greater Western Sydney in round 16.

“Aidan Riley hasn’t done much wrong,” Sanderson said.

“He’s been in for the past two weeks, but was the sub last week and Chris is coming off a dominant performance for the Eagles.”

Smith and forward Jason Porplyzia, who will miss a second week with a bruised shoulder blade, are both expected to play against Melbourne at the MCG next Sunday.

“Brodie’s injury is only minor. But he’s a young player and at this time of the year, we don’t want to take any unnecessary risk,” Sanderson said.

“It’s a bit of a like-for-like with Brodie and Luke. Browny has been playing his role really well for Norwood. He came in for one game earlier this season against GWS and was very good. It’s great we’ve got players in form, who we can call on.

“We’re really confident ‘Porps’ will play next week too. He was really close to playing against Brisbane. He’s probably about 95 per cent fit, so we didn’t want to risk him. He’s so important to our structure and what we want to do later in the year.”
