Melbourne defender Alex Georgiou is free to confront the Crows this Saturday after escaping with a reprimand for a hit on Sydney Swans forward Lance Franklin.

The incident occurred in the opening quarter of Saturday night’s clash between the two clubs. The strike was deemed high contact, reckless, and of low impact when assessed by the Match Review Panel, initially attracting 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

However, an early guilt plea reduced the total to 93.75 points, which will carry over towards Georgiou’s future record.

The 24-year-old rookie has played all six AFL games for Melbourne this season after being drafted from Norwood with pick No.35 in the 2013 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
