Selected with pick No.61 in the 2010 AFL Draft, Lyons made his debut against Port Adelaide in round five this season. The 19-year-old played three straight games, impressing with his poise and clean hands around the stoppages.

Recruited from TAC Cup team the Dandenong Stingrays, Lyons said he was pleased to be staying at Adelaide.

“We’ve had such a successful year so far and to be a part of it, playing three games and debuting this year has been really good,” Lyons told afc.com.au.

“I took massive confidence out of those three games. To be able to crack into the side, and it was such a tough side to crack into as well, and play three games on the trot was really good.

“It was great for my development and it’s an exciting time here.

“I’m happy with where the Club is going and I definitely want to stay.”

Lyons was denied the opportunity to break back into the Crows team when he developed foot soreness last month. The inside onballer has missed four weeks of football, but will return via the SANFL reserves this weekend (his club Glenelg has a bye).

“I had a stress reaction in my foot, which was a bit of a pain, but I’m back this week,” he said.

“Hopefully, I can continue on my good form from earlier in the year. I’d like to get back to where I was in the first few rounds and, maybe, play one or two games in the Crows side towards the end of the year would be nice.”

Lyons joins Patrick Dangerfield, Taylor Walker, Rory Sloane, Jared Petrenko, Richard Douglas, Brodie Smith and Matt Jaensch in committing to the Club this year.
