Jason Porplyzia responded positively to being left out of Adelaide’s line-up by starring for West Adelaide in the SANFL last weekend.

Porplyzia had 30 possessions and kicked three goals to be the stand-out performer in a losing team.

Forward Scott Welsh showed some good signs for West, taking three contested marks among nine grabs and kicking three goals from six shots. And Luke Jericho battled hard for 17 possessions against Crows team-mate John Hinge (Glenelg).

One of the stars for the winners was Richard Douglas. In just his second game since returning from a knee injury, Douglas kicked four goals from 21 possessions.

Ian Perrie made it through his first SANFL league game after three months out with a knee injury. Perrie kicked a goal, took six marks and had 18 possessions in North’s 72-point win over Port Adelaide Magpies.

Despite the big loss, ruckman Ivan Maric played a solid game for Port. His ruck work (37 hit outs) was excellent.

Chad Gibson showed some promising signs as a forward for Norwod’s league side.
