Crows forward Jared Petrenko will have shoulder surgery on Friday.

Petrenko injured his right shoulder in the final minutes of the semi-final win over Fremantle at AAMI Stadium in September.

He was able to play in the preliminary final the following weekend, but needs a reconstruction to repair the damage.

Crows football operations general manager Phil Harper said Petrenko would be ready to resume full-contact training in the New Year.

“The surgery requires a five-month rehabilitation period but Jared will be able to join in most of the pre-season sessions and then be ready for competitive work in the NAB Cup,” Harper said.

Petrenko, 22, played 22 AFL games this year for a total of 58.
