Crows pair cleared by Match Review Panel
Two Adelaide players were looked at, but not charged by the Match Review Panel in the clash with Brisbane
The Match Review Panel deemed Petrenko had "no realistic alternative" to contest the ball in his collision with Andrew Raines in the first quarter.
Doughty's tackle on Lions midfielder Tom Rockliff in the third quarter was also looked at, but the MRP concluded the force used was not sufficient to constitute a report.
The MRP findings were as follows:
Contact between the Adelaide Crows’ Jared Petrenko and the Brisbane Lions’ Andrew Raines from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Raines is moving to collect a loose ball with Petrenko coming from the opposite direction. Petrenko has his arms out in front of him as he approaches the contest, when contact is made high to Raines. Raines was paid a free kick at the time by the umpire. It was the view of the panel that Petrenko had no realisitic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Adelaide Crows’ Michael Doughty and the Brisbane Lions’ Tom Rockliff from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The ball is kicked into the Brisbane forward line. Rockliff is not able to complete a mark and picks up the loose ball, when Doughty tackles the Brisbane player to the ground. It was the view of the panel that Rockliff’s shoulder makes initial contact with the ground, rather than his head, and the force used in the tackle was not sufficient to constitute a reportable offence.
