Josh Simpson
Position: Medium Forward

AFL Profile: Medium midfielder/forward who is exciting with his natural speed and agility. Dangerous player around goal and very capable overhead for a player of his size. Represented SA in 2011 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships before returning to his native WA in 2012 where he played four matches and averaged 14 disposals and 3 tackles per game. Graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy.

NAB AFL Combine Results: 20m Sprint - 2.97 secs (Top 31%), Agility - 8.39 secs (Top 16%), Repeat Sprint - 25.42 secs (Top 27%)

X-factor: “His kicking and speed out of the contest give him an edge.”



Jake Stringer
Position: Tall Forward
Height: 191 cm
Weight: 94 kg
DOB: 25/04/94
Club: Bendigo Pioneers/Eaglehawk

AFL Profile: Tall forward/defender that excels one-on-one with his marking and body positioning. His kicking is both penetrating and precise, whether forward or back, and he has good speed off the mark. Thrives on the contest and tackles strongly. Overcome serious leg injury last season to play some excellent football for Bendigo Pioneers this year and represent Vic Country in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships. AIS AFL Academy Graduate.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Ranked equal 3rd - Matthew Lloyd Clean Hands Test (28/30) & Ranked equal 1st in Brad Johnson Goal Kicking Test (30/30).

X-factor: “His hard edge in winning the contested ball either in the air or at ground level separates him from many others his size.”


Jimmy Toumpas
Position: Medium Midfielder
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 78 kg

Club: Woodville-West Torrens/Flinders Park

AFL Profile: Energetic medium midfielder with outstanding work ethic and big aerobic capacity. Terrific ball winner and weights his kicks extremely well. Impressive for SA in 2011 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and in the senior SANFL Grand Final, when he was among the best for 2011 Premiers, Woodville West Torrens. Won All Australian honours this year averaging 22.2 disposals. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Didn’t test due to recent hip surgery, however previously tested with the AIS-AFL Academy. Beep Test - 14.5

X-factor: “Has super ability to break the lines with his pace and agility, is also able to then finish with neat foot skills.”



Jackson Thurlow
Position: Medium Defender
Height: 189 cm
Weight: 80 kg

AFL Profile: Medium defender who reads the play exceptionally well cutting off opposition forward moves and providing a running option on the way out. Averaged 24.6 disposals and 6.6 marks winning All Australian honours in the 2012 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships.

Jack Viney (Father-Son selection, Melbourne)
Position: Small Midfielder
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 82 kg

Club: Casey Scorpions/Oakleigh Chargers

AFL Profile: Left-footed small inside midfielder who attacks the ball with ferocity and tackles strongly. Was prominent for SA at the NAB AFL Under 16 Championships in 2010 before shifting back to Victoria and playing for Vic Metro in the U18s in 2011. Selected father/son to Melbourne, where father Todd played. Played the last two NAB AFL Under 18 Championships matches for Vic Metro this year, averaging 17 disposals and 4 clearances. Graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Didn’t test, however has previously tested with the AIS-AFL Academy. 20m Sprint - 2.95 secs, Agility - 8.22 secs, Beep Test - 13.6

Nick Vlastuin
Position: Medium Defender
Height: 187 cm
Weight: 86 kg

AFL Profile: Medium midfielder/defender who attacks the ball aggressively and rarely fumbles. Strong and courageous in the air, he also excels at the stoppages. Loves the physical pressure of the game, winning contested ball and tackles strongly. Captained Vic Metro in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and won All Australian honours for his work as a medium defender, averaging 16.6 disposals and 4.6 marks. Graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Agility - 8.38 secs (Top 14%), Standing Vertical Jump 70cm (Top 32%)

X-factor: “His ferocious attack on the ball and one touch hands make him an excellent contested ball winner on the inside.”


Lachie Whitfield
Position: Medium Midfielder
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 77 kg
DOB: 18/07/94
Club: Dandenong Stingrays/Mornington

AFL Profile: Classy medium midfielder with rare awareness and decision-making ability complemented by skills either side with hands and feet. Is naturally gifted with speed and endurance and is strong overhead. All-Australian at U18 level in 2011 and winner of AFL Life Members Scholarship. Backed it up this year winning the Larke Medal and All-Australian honours averaging 23.2 disposals. Another graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy.

NAB AFL Combine Results: Nathan Buckley Kicking Test - Ranked equal 14th (26/30), Didn’t test at the National Combine in fitness testing due to illness, however has previously tested at the TAC Cup Testing in March 2012 where he recorded a Beep Test of 16.2.

X-factor: “His rare game sense, elite disposal and endurance are all factors which highlight his great potential.”


Oliver Wines
Position: Medium Midfielder

AFL Profile: Strong medium midfielder with a distinct hard edge that wins him contested ball, including at the stoppages. Has elite endurance and can push forward and hit the scoreboard. Ferocious tackler who is a good overhead mark and prolific ball winner. Averaged 24.2 disposals for Vic Country in the
NAB AFL Under 18 Championships this year winning All-Australian honours. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.

Position: Tall Forward/Midfielder

AFL Profile: Left footed tall forward who presents well on the lead and is strong overhead. Averaged 13 disposals for Vic Country this year with his best game against their arch rival, Vic Metro. Has elite endurance and work rate and is capable of playing as a wingman as well. Has clean hands, good
vision and excellent awareness.

AFL Profile: Very competitive defender with excellent natural leap and breakaway pace. Strong overhead mark and excels one on one. Composed under pressure and agile. Showed dash from defence for Vic-Country, averaging 14.8 disposals in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships in 2012. Graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy.
