Rookie Brodie Martin and Jarrhan Jacky were stand-outs in the weekend’s SANFL games.

Martin collected 22 kicks, 11 marks and nine handballs in Sturt’s 61-point win over West Adelaide to be rated by Adelaide’s observer as one of the best players on the ground.

And Jacky’s aerial work was a highlight of his 23-possession effort for the Eagles in their five-goal win over Glenelg. Playing at half-forward and wing, Jacky took 11 marks and kicked 2.2 in his best performance at this level.

Chris Schmidt was high in West’s best, picking up 17 possessions, while Brad Moran played in ruck for most of the day and had six possessions to go with his 21 hit-outs.

Some strong marks were a highlight of Shaun McKernan’s game for the Panthers. He took nine marks and had 13 possessions in a losing team and tried hard all afternoon. Myke Cook started at half-back for the Panthers and had nine possessions in the opening term. He finished with 18 disposals.

North Adelaide’s Tony Armstrong was solid with 15 possessions as a wingman or half-forward. Phil Davis (eight possessions) controlled his position in defence for most of the game but let his Port Magpies opponent get on top for a period.

In the SANFL reserves, Norwood’s Will Young (16 kicks, 6 marks, three handballs) had his best game of the season in defence and was named best by the Redlegs. Aaron Kite (eight kicks, nine handballs) started in attack and then dropped back into defence.

Brian Donnelly also showed improvement with Glenelg, picking up 10 kicks and nine handballs and being named high in the best. Tom Lee had nine possessions for Sturt reserves
