Tippett, please stay
Adelaide midfielder Scott Thompson urges forward Kurt Tippett to stick with the Crows
ADELAIDE forward Kurt Tippett, who falls out of contract at the end of the season, has been told to become a Crow for life by teammate Scott Thompson.
Several clubs have recently signed stars for five years and the Crows hope Queenslander Tippett rejects the chance to return to his native state.
"If someone wants to go, they're going to go. But we'd all love for Kurt to stay," Thompson said on Monday.
"We can tell him we want him to stay as much as we want but if he wants to go, he'll go.
"I can't answer that question whether he will stay or go but obviously we'd love to have him here for the rest of his career because he is going to be such a great player."
Tippett combined with fellow forward Taylor Walker for nine goals in Adelaide's 69-point trouncing of Gold Coast on Saturday.
Thompson said the dangerous duo were on the verge of becoming a stand-out attacking partnership.
"I watch them at training, I'm in awe of some of the things they do," Thompson said.
"They're both obviously big, strong guys. But the way they move as well, they're quite agile.
"And they're both still young, they have got huge upside.
"If they can develop their relationship, there is no doubt for the next eight years hopefully they can be a potent combination up forward for us."
Crow utility Ricky Henderson is in doubt for Adelaide's home Saturday night clash with Western Bulldogs, which marks 29-year-old Thompson's 200th AFL match.
Adelaide's reigning club champion was proud of the milestone but hungered for team success after two seasons of missing the finals.
"I have got great belief within the group, as do the coaching staff, that we have got a list of players now that can take us back up towards the top of the ladder," Thompson said.
"The depth of playing capability now is far greater than in the past."
