Jason Porplyzia will not return to the field this season.

The Crows forward, injured in the opening minutes of round one of the 2011 season, had shoulder surgery in April and has in recent weeks spent some time training with the main group.

Crows football operations manager Phil Harper said: “Jason, in consultation with the Adelaide Football Club medical staff, has decided to take a more conservative approach to his return to playing. The focus now is on being ready to go at the start of the 2012 pre-season.

“Jason has worked hard with his rehabilitation and his approach was always to aim to be ready to play late in the season. But the medical advice is that he will benefit from spending more time strengthening and preparing the shoulder rather than risking it in competition at the moment.”

Porplyzia, 26, has played 88 AFL games for the Crows.
