Adelaide should regain Nathan Bock and Ivan Maric for Friday’s NAB Challenge clash with Carlton in Melbourne.
Adelaide should regain Nathan Bock and Ivan Maric for Friday’s NAB Challenge clash with Carlton in Melbourne.
Bock trained all last week but didn’t play against Melbourne on Saturday and instead joined a small group of players who trained at the club. Maric, who has missed two games with a sore glute, also trained on Saturday and will rejoin the main group this week.
But Bernie Vince (glute) is unlikely to be pushed back into Tuesday’s main session and therefore is now aiming to play for his SANFL club in the week before the AFL season opener.
Andrew McLeod (back) will also sit out the Carlton game. He copped a couple of knocks against Melbourne but has been cleared of any bone damage.
Nathan van Berlo (back) continues to increase his training workload and Jason Porplyzia (pelvis) is also hoping to be ready to play by the end of the month.
Brett Burton (knee) started running last week, Chris Knights (foot) will be in a moon boot for another week and will then resume training and James Sellar (hand) expects to be ready to play by round one.
Brad Moran and Brad Symes (knee injuries) both had more surgery last week and will not be ready to play for at least two months.
Some younger Crows played in SANFL trials on the weekend.
Phil Davis performed well for North Adelaide as a forward, kicking 3.3 from 18 possessions, Tony Armstrong was also busy in this game, collecting 25 possessions, and draftee James Craig dominated the ruck contests.
Rookie Matthew Jaensch, playing his first game after a knee injury, found touch in Sturt’s reserves and picked up 20 possessions in a half while Aidan Riley had about a dozen possessions in just over a half of the senior trial. Another rookie, Luke Thompson, showed some good signs in defence for the Eagles on Friday night.
