The Crows Foundation will pledge its members donations to the family of Mintaro Manoora footballer Danny Ross, who died from a heart condition in a tragic on-field incident in April last year.

Members have already contributed more than $3000 to the Crows Foundation with the Foundation Board promising to add any donations made by members in March to the final amount raised for the Ross family.

The funds will help Danny’s widow Laura rebuild her life with her three young children, Gracie (4), Molly (2) and Ned (1) in the small town of Auburn, about 20 kilometres south of Clare. The funds are expected to go into a trust for the children’s education.

Laura Ross and her children will be special guests of the Crows at their Round 2 home clash with West Coast Eagles on April 9.

Spokesperson for the Danny Ross Foundation and close family friend Justin Nicholls said Ross had been an avid Adelaide Crows supporter who would be thrilled that the Club was coming to the assistance of his wife and children.

“This has been an incredibly difficult time for Laura and the kids and to know that the Adelaide Football Club and their members are thinking of the Ross family and wanting to help is pretty special,” Nicholls said.

“The death of Danny was a tragedy that has shocked the country football community to its core.

“The Adelaide Crows have always been the leading sporting club in SA and their support just symbolises all that is good and decent about South Australia.”

Justin Nicholls is among seven Mintaro/Manoora locals that will ride from Adelaide to Melbourne on March 25 to raise funds for the Danny Ross Foundation and Heart Foundation. They expect to arrive in Melbourne on March 31.

The Danny Ross Foundation is keen to hear from any companies or individuals who would like to sponsor the ride or make a donation.

The Crows Foundation was officially launched in April last year, with the primary focus of the Crows Foundation to oversee and coordinate activities that raise funds for causes involving children.

The Crows Foundation has already donated significant funds to a variety of organisations helping children in need, including Camp Quality, the Bone Growth Foundation, Operation Flinders and the Red Cross "Breakfast Club" program.
