The Adelaide Football Club is cultivating its devoted regional farming force to ‘tip in’ to an exciting and expanded Crows Regional Junior Development program.

There isn’t a club in the AFL or any national sporting code that is doing as much work in junior development in regional areas as the Adelaide Football Club.

The Crows pride themselves on being the team for all South Australians and in this latest initiative we are inviting growers to donate a quantity of grain to the cause – from a single tonne to a silo. This will in turn be reinvested back to junior footy in their area.

“The Adelaide Football Club in association with South Australian grain growers is excited to launch this cooperative statewide fundraising initiative,” said Crows CEO Steven Trigg. “The Adelaide Football Club is very aware of the tough conditions our primary producers have endured and their dedicated commitment to their own community, school, church or sports club.”

Simply, during or at the end of this season’s grain harvest, the Crows are inviting growers to transfer a donated tonnage to the registered Crows account. It can be any form of grain and will be warehoused for sale at a later date in 2010.

All the funds raised from this initiative will allow our club, through its players, coaches, management and junior development team, to deliver an expanded range of benefits directly back into the regional community from football equipment to exclusive coaching clinics. This will be directed to both regional schools and football clubs and will be commensurate with the tonnage donated.

“Growers wishing to participate in the GROW CROWS scheme are encouraged to register at the Crows site at this year’s Paskeville Field Days or by visiting the Crows website www.afc.com.au and downloading the registration form,” said Michael Pratt, Blyth farmer and convenor of the Grow Crows initiative.

Rural South Australia has been very kind to the Crows over the years having provided our Club with genuine AFL stars in Mark Ricciuto, Tony Modra, Shaun Rehn and bright prospect Bernie Vince.

Any and all support of the regional community is greatly appreciated and assists our Club to grow the next crop of South Australia’s finest country footballers.
