Brent Reilly has become the first Adelaide player to be in contention for the National's AFL Rising Star Award in four seasons following his nomination for round 16.

Continuing his great form since the bye, Reilly gathered 10 marks and 22 possessions against Fremantle last weekend. He had 30 touches against Melbourne a fortnight ago and 16 against Sydney the next week.

Reilly made his debut in 2002 and now has a total of 15 AFL games and won Adelaide's Emerging Talent Award in 2003.

He played in Adelaide’s winning preseason side in 2003 only to fracture his collarbone early in the season while playing for Sturt in the SANFL. He worked his way back into the side back to play in round 22 and in the second elimination final victory over West Coast, in which he kicked a goal.

He has spent much of 2004 across half-back, although was recruited from the Calder Cannons as a wingman/half-forward. He was the 12th selection overall at the 2001 National AFL Draft.
