ADELAIDE has lost its second home game for the season, going down by 24 points to Collingwood at AAMI Stadium tonight.

Collingwood won a gripping, see-sawing contest 11.20 (86) to 9.8 (62).

The fresher Pies took the ascendancy in the third term, with the move of ruckman Chris Bryan to full-forward instrumental.

Despite the vocal support of 43,915 home fans, the best efforts of Andrew McLeod off half-back and Ian Perrie up forward, Adelaide failed to halt the Magpies’ momentum.

The Crows were out on their feet late in the game, a pointer perhaps to their grueling encounter against Fremantle last round, and the fact they had enjoyed only five days' rest versus Collingwood's 10.

Ian Perrie kicked three goals and Richard Douglas two, while familiar old hands Simon Goodwin (28 disposals), McLeod (24 disposals) and Tyson Edwards (26 touches) were major ball winners.

Scott Thompson also contributed with 27 touches and a goal.

Adelaide held sway for a 40-minute patch during the second and third quarters, piling on six goals to one.

But the Magpies re-established their dominance, running out comfortable winners in the end.

After the first half, Collingwood held a slender one-point lead after the Crows fought back from a 23-point deficit midway through the second quarter.

The Crows turned the tide in the midfield through veterans Tyson Edwards and McLeod.

This enabled forwards Perrie and Richard Douglas to boot two goals each.

Collingwood controlled play for the majority of the first quarter, holding a nine-point advantage at the first break.

The handball-happy Crows struggled to contain the Pies’ efficient disposal and strong marking.

But a late goal from Bernie Vince for the Crows in red time kept the home side within striking distance.
