John Hinge will make his AFL debut on Saturday night.

Hinge and forward Scott Welsh were named to face Collingwood at AAMI Stadium, replacing Brent Reilly (ankle) and Jason Porplyzia (knee).

Welsh missed last Sunday’s game against Fremantle in Perth after reporting some quad soreness and although he had a light night at training on Wednesday is expected to complete the Friday morning session.

Hinge, 20, was originally listed as a rookie by Adelaide at the end of 2004. The 187cm Glenelg defender was then upgraded to the primary list at the end of 2005. He had some injury setbacks last year and again this year in the NAB Cup period, when he broke a thumb, but showed some good SANFL form in the early rounds.

Hinge will be the 151st player to play for Adelaide and is the second first-year player (after ruckman Jonathon Griffin) introduced this season by the Crows.

2005 draftee Darren Pfeiffer has been named as an emergency for the first time.
