He started at half back in the first half but then joined the midfield rotations and finished with 18 possessions. Aidan Riley had only 13 possessions but he also was credited with 11 tackles and a number of clearances. Brodie Martin (16 possessions) had stints at half forward and in defence for Sturt, which lost by a goal.
Brad Moran opened well for West Adelaide with two goals and three marks in the first term. Playing mainly as a forward with the occasional run in the ruck, he faded out of the game and had nine possessions and three goals. Chris Schmidt played a run-with role but also played offensively, picking up 20 possessions and a goal in the win over North Adelaide. For North, Tony Armstrong (22 disposals) played well across half back from where he provided run and penetration.
Ian Callinan was a bit rusty in his return to football with Central District on Saturday. Playing on the ball and at half-forward, the mature age rookie had 18 possessions. Ricky Henderson started at half forward, where he kicked two goals, but he had the majority of his 20 possessions when shifted to a wing. For Port, Ivan Maric again played with enthusiasm and energy in the ruck and attack. He had 13 disposals and was on top in the ruck contests.
South Adelaide had a bye but Daniel Talia had a good 'guest' hit-out with the Eagles’ reserves, collecting 27 possessions in defence and the midfield.
Tim Milera’s four goals in the reserves for Port all were kicked in the first quarter. Jake von Bertouch (Eagles reserves) had 20 possessions and 11 marks while Lachlan Roach had 25 possessions in North’s reserves.
In the Queens Birthday clash between Glenelg and Norwood, Jarryd Lyons kicked a nice goal but had a quiet game in the midfield for the Tigers.
For Glenelg's reserves, Sam Shaw had 14 possessions and four tackles and worked his way into the game after a quiet first quarter.
