A quad strain will stop Crows teenager Chris Knights from playing against Geelong at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.

A scan has revealed the problem in an area of his thigh which needs to be treated cautiously to avoid a longer stint on the sidelines.

But there has been some good news on the injury front. Forward Scott Welsh, who had missed three games with a quad strain, worked through a reserves game on Friday night. Ruckman Matthew Clarke (ankle) played about a half for Glenelg’s reserves; Hayden Skipworth (ankle) was rested last weekend but will be clear to train this week; and Brett Burton (hamstring) also has been cleared to train.

Nathan Bock and Darren Pfeiffer, who have both not played this season because of back injuries, plan to increase their training intensity this week and Luke Jericho (shoulder) should be available to play for West Adelaide.

Chad Gibson is back on the injury list after straining a hamstring at training last week.
