ADELAIDE coach Neil Craig is acutely aware his side must match Collingwood's capacity to run if they are to seal a top-eight spot by winning Friday night's match at Telstra Dome.

The Magpies ran the Crows off their feet in their 24-point victory at AAMI Stadium in round six, ruckman Chris Bryan showing greater verve than many theoretically quicker Crows to roam unchecked into the forward line for a trio of goals.

On a fast, indoor track there is little chance of a slower game developing on Friday, meaning Adelaide will need to maintain their energy all night - or lose.

"We couldn't match their run apart from part way through the second quarter and a bit of the third quarter," Crows coach Neil Craig said.

"We had a patch there where we were reasonable, but I just thought their running power was an area we didn't match at all.

"Indoors as well, that stadium is made for hard-running sides, so well need to address that."

One significant difference from last time is the Crows entered the round-six match on a five-day break after a sapping one-point loss to Fremantle in Perth; Collingwood, on the other hand, enjoyed a 10-day spell following their Anzac Day encounter with Essendon.

Craig alluded to those circumstances, but declined to use them as an excuse, perhaps mindful that at the time Magpies coach Mick Malthouse reacted angrily to the suggestion the break had provided an advantage for his side.

"I could throw up some excuses, but I'm not because I don't want to use excuses," Craig said.

"They were too good for us."

Too good is not how anyone would describe Adelaide's goalkicking in 2007, and even last week it was an issue that prevented the Crows from earning the sort of margin over Brisbane their dominant play merited.

Clearly tiring of the focus on his side's kicking, Craig referred to Lance Franklin's already celebrated "feat" of kicking 2.11 against the Bulldogs last week as proof goalkicking was not a Crows problem alone.

"We have continued putting work into it. I am sure the public thinks we're out there eight hours a day doing it, but we're not, because you can't do that," he said.

"Guys physically have to recover, but what time we have had we have utilised - there is some pressure on because of the focus on it.

"Two goals 11 for Buddy Franklin ... it's happening in the competition but that is not an excuse for us.

"We need to do it better; the sooner the better."
