Nationally renowned AFL journalist Caroline Wilson celebrated her 50th birthday in style last Friday with more than 200 ladies at the inaugural Crows Foundation Ruby Connection Ladies lunch.

Wilson, who turned 50 on Monday, was presented with a cake by Adelaide Crows utility Brad Symes, while the packed 19th Floor of the Westpac Centre belted out "Happy Birthday Caroline".

Adelaide Crows players Jason Porplyzia, Taylor Walker, Nathan van Berlo, Richard Douglas, Patrick Dangerfield and Symes were on hand to hear Caroline Wilson talk about her career as an AFL journalist in Melbourne, which drew rave reviews from the audience.

The lunch, supported by the Westpac Women's Network and James Thredgold Jewellers, raised more than $11,000 for the Crows Foundation which raises funds for South Australian children in need.

The Crows Foundation was formed in May 2005 and since its inception has raised, and donated, more than $500,000 for numerous children's charities across SA.
One of the current projects that the Crows Foundation are supporting is the Smith Family "Let's Read" program in the northern suburbs.

Let’s Read encourages parents to read to their children from as young as four months of age, in a bid to prepare them for the transition into school. Thanks to the funding from the Crows Foundation, resources such as books and instructional DVDs will be available to families in the area free of charge.
