Veteran Crows defender Jason Torney will play his first AFL game of the 2006 premiership season against St Kilda on Friday night.

Torney, who suffered a serious quad strain in March, has now proved his fitness with four consecutive SANFL appearances and is an important addition to the club’s defensive options.

He replaces Nathan van Berlo, who had surgery on Wednesday after breaking his collarbone against Brisbane last Saturday night. He will be out for six to eight weeks.

Several senior Crows were rested from training at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday night but captain Mark Ricciuto, Andrew McLeod, Simon Goodwin, Graham Johncock and Ken McGregor all trained today at AAMI Stadium.

The emergencies are Hayden Skipworth, Bernie Vince and John Meesen.
