Coach conference fills new facility
Adelaide’s new Training and Entertainment Facility will host one of the nation’s biggest sports forums this week.
More than 450 football coaches are expected to attend the eighth annual AFL National Coaching Conference - an event that provides participants with up-to-the-minute information on the art and science of coaching.
Every room of the new facility will be used for sessions from Friday (January 29) until Sunday.
Among the presenters over the three days are David Parkin, Stan Alves, Neale Daniher, Mark Williams, Neil Craig, Jason McCartney and Charlie Walsh.
SANFL Coaching Manager Robert Oatey said it was only the second time the conference had been held outside of Victoria.
“This is a great opportunity for South Australia and AAMI Stadium to be able to host such a significant event,” Mr Oatey said.
“The AFL, through the AFL Coaches Association and Game Development, is taking an ever-increasing role in the development of coaching and the game.
“We in South Australia are proud of our input into coaching education and we look forward to hosting the 2010 conference.”
For the first time ever, the AFL National Umpire Coaches Conference will also be conducted in conjunction with the AFL National Coaching Conference.
