BRODIE Martin’s hopes of avoiding a second knee reconstruction have lifted after scans today.

Crows football operations general manager Phil Harper confirmed Martin’s optimism was based on the initial scan report.

“The scans were inconclusive, so we will have to wait until Monday when Brodie sees the specialist,” Harper said.

“But at the moment we all have higher hopes than we did after the game on Friday.”

Martin, who needed a knee reconstruction late in the 2009 season after just his second AFL game, hurt the knee early in the third term of yesterday’s NAB Challenge game against Carlton at Melbourne’s Visy Park.

He played on before having his left knee checked during a spell on the bench.

The 22-year-old wingman or half back returned to the AFL for the last two games last season.

Brodie Martin is a $232,600 midfielder in the Toyota AFL Dream Team competition.
